Abu Dhabi Art Reveals Curator Lorenzo Fiaschi And Selected Artists For Beyond Emerging Artists Programme 2024
Abu Dhabi Art has unveiled details of its Beyond: Emerging Artists programme for 2024. This initiative commissions new works from emerging UAE-based artists annually. Lorenzo Fiaschi, Co-Founder of GALLERIA CONTINUA, will curate the 2024 edition. He has selected Fatma Al Ali, Dina Nazmi Khorchid, and Simrin Mehra Agarwal to create commissioned pieces for this year's exhibition.
The selected artworks will be displayed at Manarat Al Saadiyat from 20 to 24 November 2024. Afterward, the exhibition will travel internationally to a new venue. The programme aims to highlight the creativity and potential of contemporary artists in the region.

Lorenzo Fiaschi expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "As we embark on this new journey with Abu Dhabi Art's Beyond Emerging Artists programme, we are excited to contribute to the region’s vibrant contemporary art scene. Celebrating 18 years of collaboration with Abu Dhabi Art, GALLERIA CONTINUA is eager to witness and support the dynamic evolution of the art world. We are committed to embracing diversity, which enriches our collective artistic experience. We look forward to guiding the selected artists—Dina Nazmi Khorchid, Simrin Mehra Agarwal, and Fatma Al Ali—and helping them develop exceptional projects of international calibre that showcase the creativity and potential of today’s artistic landscape."
The selection process involved reviewing over 100 proposals by Abu Dhabi Art's organising committee and GALLERIA CONTINUA. Friends of Abu Dhabi Art also participated in this process. This group actively supports art and culture in the emirate and backs the Beyond Emerging Artists programme annually.
Dyala Nusseibeh, Director of Abu Dhabi Art, remarked on the selection process: "During the selection process we were struck by how analytical and thoughtful each of the chosen proposals were, across diverse practices, unpicking issues that ranged from conflict and war to our relationship with the environment and the impact of colonialism on indigenous plant life in the Gulf. Together the commissioned artists navigate utopian or dystopian imagined landscapes, in often playful, often piercing ways, creating the space for new histories of the region to emerge."
This year's event marks Abu Dhabi Art's 16th edition at Manarat Al Saadiyat. It will feature numerous galleries and artists worldwide from 20 to 24 November 2024.
Year-Round Programming
Abu Dhabi Art's year-round programming includes exhibitions like those held at Marignana Arte in Venice from April to May 2024. Additionally, Gateway: Maqam is showcasing a mid-career survey for Hashel Al Lamki in Kochi from July to August 2024.
The Beyond: Emerging Artists programme continues to foster artistic growth by providing a platform for emerging talents while celebrating diverse perspectives within contemporary art.
