Abu Dhabi AI-Robotics Conference Launches To Explore Healthcare Innovations
The Abu Dhabi AI-Robotics Conference (AIRoC), hosted by Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), has commenced at the university's Masdar City campus. The event, which runs until 25th April, highlights the significant role of artificial intelligence and robotics in transforming healthcare through precision and personalised care.
The conference agenda features keynote speeches, panel discussions, and expert talks from institutions like Columbia University, Kyoto University, and the Technical University of Munich. These sessions aim to explore how AI and robotics are reshaping healthcare delivery. Professor Yoshihiko Nakamura from MBZUAI emphasised that AIRoC serves as a platform for global collaboration in robotics innovation.

Professor Nakamura stated, "AIRoC is more than a conference. It’s a platform to connect global expertise and accelerate innovation in robotics for healthcare. We are proud to bring this conversation to Abu Dhabi and share what we’re building with the world." He also mentioned plans for developing a universal platform for physical and embodied intelligence, which will influence future intelligent machines worldwide.
Abdulla Abdulalee AlHumaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), discussed AI's role in enhancing accessibility and empowerment. His talk highlighted ZHO's pioneering efforts in using technology to support inclusion for people with disabilities.
MBZUAI Provost Timothy Baldwin shared insights into the university’s Public Health Programme. He outlined how this initiative integrates AI to improve public health outcomes. Meanwhile, Professor Sami Haddadin, MBZUAI’s Vice President of Research, provided his expertise on Human-Robot Symbiosis, focusing on collaborative interactions between humans and robots.
Dr. Hassa Al Mazrouei from Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) examined AI's impact on medicine. Her presentation offered a clinical perspective on how AI is revolutionising healthcare practices by enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficiency.
The conference underscores the importance of integrating AI and robotics into healthcare systems globally. By fostering international collaboration and sharing innovative ideas, AIRoC aims to drive advancements that will benefit hospitals, homes, and health systems worldwide.
