Abu Dhabi's Department Of Health Unveils First AI-Powered Population Health Intelligence Platform At GITEX Global

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), in partnership with Microsoft, has introduced the Population Health Intelligence (PHI) platform at GITEX Global 2025. This initiative is a pioneering step in AI-driven population health management on an Emirate-wide scale. The PHI platform signifies a shift from reactive healthcare to proactive health management, integrating various datasets into a comprehensive digital twin of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system.

By utilising clinical, lifestyle, and environmental data, the Digital Twin offers a real-time overview of population health. This enables policymakers and healthcare professionals to identify risks early, anticipate trends, and simulate intervention impacts. The PHI platform is structured around two main components: Predict (Insights) and Prevent & Act (Interventions), continuously learning to provide strategies tailored to Abu Dhabi’s demographic needs.

AI-Powered Health Intelligence Launched in Abu Dhabi

PHI combines advanced analytics, AI agents, and geospatial simulations to enhance decision-making and optimise healthcare resources. It strengthens the Emirate's capacity for early intervention by forecasting risks and simulating future scenarios. This approach aims to extend healthy life expectancy and promote preventive healthcare, adding more healthy years to the lives of Abu Dhabi's citizens and residents.

Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Under-Secretary of DoH, stated, "Our mission goes beyond delivering healthcare. We are shaping a new era of healthy longevity where data, prevention and innovation come together to empower healthier lives." She emphasised the importance of building a resilient health ecosystem that anticipates needs and addresses disparities through data-led insights.

Amr Kamel, General Manager from Microsoft UAE, commented on the transformative nature of the PHI platform for Abu Dhabi's residents. "The launch of the Population Health Intelligence platform marks a transformative step for the people of Abu Dhabi," he said. By leveraging AI and advanced analytics, the platform supports early detection of health risks and targeted prevention programs.

The initial focus areas for PHI are obesity and cancer. These will utilise AI-driven insights to design early interventions and improve preventive programmes. The aim is to reduce disease burden across the population by addressing these critical health issues proactively.

Global Leadership in Health Innovation

This development highlights DoH's commitment to integrating Artificial Intelligence and data analytics into healthcare decision-making processes. The unveiling of PHI reinforces Abu Dhabi’s status as a global leader in health innovation. It serves as a testbed where advanced technologies are developed, tested, and scaled for measurable impact.

Through this milestone achievement, DoH continues its leadership role in intelligent healthcare by harnessing data and collaboration. The goal is to shape a healthier future for all residents by using cutting-edge technology to inform decisions that benefit public health.
