Abrahamic Family House Dialogue Summit Highlights Importance Of Interfaith Communication And Collaboration
The Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi marked its second anniversary with a global summit focused on dialogue, understanding, and peaceful coexistence. The event, titled "In Dialogue – Voices of Tomorrow, Stories of Now," featured discussions among diplomats, cultural leaders, creatives, and policymakers. Over 150 guests attended to hear insights and strategies for fostering a culture of dialogue and collaboration.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, President of the Abrahamic Family House, emphasised the importance of dialogue in today's interconnected yet polarised world. He stated, "In a world that is profoundly connected and yet increasingly polarised, dialogue is more than an idea or an aspiration; it is a critical component of the cooperation and collaboration required to tackle the greatest challenges of our time. The In Dialogue Summit amplifies the power of dialogue in action, with the goal of finding new ways to build trust across diverse communities, discover our common humanity and shared values, and generate positive and lasting change."
Imam Adam Kelwick delivered a keynote speech at the summit. As a faith leader advocating interfaith dialogue, he shared his experiences in easing community tensions during the August 2024 UK riots. His insights underscored the role of faith leaders in promoting peace and understanding across different communities.
A panel discussion titled "The Art of Diplomacy in Dialogue" featured Nikolay Mladenov from the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and Dr. Mariët Westermann from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. They explored how meaningful dialogue can enhance diplomacy by fostering empathy to build consensus and collaboration.
Manuel Rabaté from Louvre Abu Dhabi joined Bill Bragin from New York University Abu Dhabi's Arts Centre and curator Alia Zaal Lootah to discuss cultural exchange's role in inspiring creativity. They highlighted how encounters between cultures can lead to innovative artistic expressions.
Maqsoud Kruse from the National Human Rights Institution and Mohamed Al Hammadi from Emirates News Agency reflected on efforts to promote cross-cultural dialogue. They discussed initiatives aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and progress through mutual understanding.
Creative Storytelling Through Arts
Composer Ihab Darwish, creative director Lateefah bin Hamoodah, and photojournalist Hussain Al Mossawi shared their experiences in using music, photography, and arts to convey the Abrahamic Family House’s vision. Their storytelling highlighted creative ways to express values of dialogue and coexistence.
An exhibition featuring artworks by Emirati artists was unveiled during the event. Curated by Lateefa bin Hamoodah, these pieces were inspired by themes of dialogue and coexistence.
Partnerships for Interfaith Dialogue
The summit coincided with significant partnership agreements between the Abrahamic Family House and Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. These collaborations aim to promote interfaith dialogue through cultural exchange and education initiatives.
A key element of this partnership is the Abrahamic Family House Fellowship Program. This initiative will support one scholar annually in contributing to research on interfaith studies, diplomacy, and cultural engagement.
Anniversary Celebrations Reflect Commitment
The Abrahamic Family House celebrated its second anniversary throughout February 2023. Since its inauguration, it has welcomed 600,000 visitors for worship and community events like talks and workshops.
This month-long celebration included various events such as a Global Tolerance Conference organised by the Ministry of Tolerance alongside other organisations. These activities reflect Abu Dhabi's dedication to promoting peaceful coexistence as outlined in the Document on Human Fraternity commemorated each year on 4th February.
