Abdullah Bin Zayed And Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Discuss Key Agreements To Enhance Bilateral Relations

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently met with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. This meeting was part of the 12th UAE-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission session in Abu Dhabi. They explored ways to enhance their bilateral relations for mutual benefit.

Sheikh Abdullah and Ishaq Dar signed the minutes of the commission's 12th session. They also formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to waive entry visa requirements between the two nations. This agreement aims to facilitate easier travel and strengthen people-to-people connections.

The meeting also saw the signing of an MoU to establish a joint task force focused on boosting UAE investments in Pakistan's strategic sectors. Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, UAE's Minister of Investment, and Tariq Bajwa, Special Assistant to Pakistan's Prime Minister, signed this MoU.

An agreement on artificial intelligence and digital economy was also signed during the session. Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi and Zarar Hashim Khan, Federal Secretary from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, were involved in this signing. This agreement aims to foster collaboration in technology sectors.

The joint commission meeting included several key figures such as Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology; and Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh led the UAE delegation at the commission meeting while Tariq Bajwa chaired the Pakistani side. In his remarks, Al Sayegh highlighted the enduring partnership between both countries since diplomatic ties began in 1971. He praised Mohammad Ishaq Dar for his dedication to enhancing these relations.

Al Sayegh noted that non-oil trade between the UAE and Pakistan exceeded US$8.6 billion in 2024. He emphasised that their partnership is built on mutual trust and shared goals, aiming for a prosperous future for upcoming generations.

The collaboration between the UAE and Pakistan continues to grow stronger over decades of cooperation. Both nations are committed to advancing their relationship across various sectors for mutual prosperity and well-being.
