6th Internal Audit Forum Commences In Riyadh With Focus On AI And Professional Development
The 6th Internal Audit Forum began at the General Court of Audit's (GCA) headquarters in Riyadh. Organised by the Saudi Center for Financial and Performance Auditing (SCFPA), it coincides with International Internal Audit Awareness Month. The event saw participation from over 550 leaders and specialists in internal auditing, including Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of GCA, and other officials.
A significant feature of the forum was the introduction of the "Internal Assistant," an AI-driven tool designed to provide precise responses in internal auditing. This tool adheres to international standards set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and is tailored for public sector use. It aims to enhance efficiency and performance among internal auditors.

Anthony J. Pugliese, President and CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors, delivered a keynote address highlighting the importance of modern technologies like artificial intelligence and big data analytics in internal auditing. He noted that these tools facilitate risk anticipation, proactive decision-making, and improved advisory services.
Pugliese also pointed out a global trend towards expanding the advisory role of internal auditors. He mentioned that leaders in this field plan to allocate up to 40% of their audit plans to consulting activities within the next decade.
Dr. Seita Almandeel, Supervisor General of Internal Audit at GCA, stressed the strategic role of internal auditors in promoting institutional sustainability amid rapid business changes. She described them as trusted advisors who add value through insight and guidance in decision-making processes.
Dr. Almandeel also highlighted the need for continuous education and professional development for internal auditors. She reiterated GCA's commitment to enhancing public sector auditors' capabilities through initiatives like the "Knowledge Community for Internal Auditors."
