Dubai Police Academy Launches PIL Diploma With 54 Participants From 40 Countries

The Dubai Police Academy has launched the second edition of the Specialised Diploma in Police Innovation and International Leadership (PIL). This programme, a first in the region, is organised with the General Department of Training at Dubai Police and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai. It includes 54 participants from police leadership across 40 countries.

The diploma aims to enhance innovation and leadership in law enforcement. Running until 13th May 2025, it focuses on advanced methodologies, leadership skills, and global collaboration among police entities. The programme also seeks to boost Dubai's reputation for education and training excellence. It consists of three main pillars: academic programming, tactical training, and physical training.

Dubai Police's PIL Diploma Welcomes Global Participants

Brigadier Badran Saeed Al Shamsi attended an introductory session at the Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. He stated, "The PIL diploma is designed to enhance participants' operational and professional capabilities. It equips them with the knowledge and tools to address global security challenges, reinforcing the UAE's and Dubai's leadership in international policing."

Brigadier Al Shamsi highlighted that this initiative aligns with His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri's vision. The focus is on strengthening Dubai Police's global leadership by investing in human capital and fostering innovation. The first edition was successful in providing theoretical and practical expertise in areas like police leadership, risk management, digital transformation for financial crime prevention, and smart city policing practices.

Brigadier Muhammad Atiq Thani noted a significant rise in participation this year. There are now 54 participants compared to 45 previously, with representation from 40 countries instead of 29. This increase further establishes Dubai as a global hub for police training and innovation.

Academic Collaboration

The academic component of the diploma is delivered with RIT Dubai, known globally for future-focused sciences. Thirty-five international experts will conduct the programme over 16 weeks, providing 469 hours of training. Brigadier Thani emphasised this partnership enhances the programme's quality.

Senior officers such as Brigadier Muhammad Atiq Thani, Colonel Tariq Hilal from Criminal Investigation, Brigadier Dr Muhammad Al Hajj from Travel and Treatment Affairs were present at the session. Their involvement underscores the importance placed on this initiative by Dubai Police.

This specialised diploma not only aims to develop skills but also strengthens international ties within law enforcement communities. By doing so, it reinforces Dubai’s position as a leader in innovative police training solutions worldwide.
