AI Innovations Highlighted At The 3rd International Conference On Rare Diseases In Dubai

The Third International Conference of the Emirates Rare Diseases Society took place in Dubai. This event, organised with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai Health Authority, and various universities, aimed to enhance awareness and share experiences. It also sought to explore cooperation opportunities for better care for those with rare diseases.

Dr. Abdullah Al Khayyat, CEO of Al Jalila Hospital in Dubai, opened the conference. He highlighted that rare diseases are often complex and chronic, appearing in childhood and leading to severe disabilities or early death. These conditions pose significant challenges for both doctors and researchers.

AI Innovations at Rare Diseases Conference

Dr. Iman Taryam Al Shamsi, President of the conference, emphasised the importance of discussing new diagnostic and therapeutic methods. The event featured 28 sessions with interactive workshops led by specialists. The programme aimed to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Dr. Al Shamsi noted that individuals with rare diseases often face psychological and social challenges due to isolation and misunderstanding. The association's main goal is to provide moral support to patients and families, raise awareness, and advocate for better public health policies.

Nafisa Tawfiq, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Rare Diseases Society, stated that under UAE leadership, significant attention has been given to rare diseases. The family programme focused on prevention through premarital examinations and government support initiatives.

Exhibition Highlights

The conference included an exhibition featuring 13 local and international companies showcasing modern medicines. These companies were eager to present their latest products during this significant annual event in the UAE.

On its final day, the conference offered a rich programme focusing on patients and their families' daily challenges. It provided a platform for direct interaction with specialists to discuss difficulties faced by those affected by rare diseases.

The Emirates Rare Diseases Association aims to increase scientific knowledge exchange about these conditions. It focuses on education programmes to reduce disease spread while promoting prevention methods. Their services extend across all regions of the country for citizens, residents, and those affected by these diseases.
