37th Annual Conference Highlights Importance Of Sharia Education For Muslims In Latin America And The Caribbean

The 37th Annual Conference of Muslims of Latin America and the Caribbean recently concluded in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Organised by the Islamic Dawah Center in Brazil alongside the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, the event centred on "Sharia education in Latin American and Caribbean countries and its impact on preserving identity." Over 120 scholars, preachers, academics, and students from more than 30 countries participated.

Participants discussed the significance of Islamic education in Latin America and the Caribbean. They explored ways to promote it among Muslim-minority communities to preserve identity and social unity. The conference highlighted the need for integrating Islamic education through lessons, lectures, and sermons. It also called for prioritising Islamic education within these communities.

Muslims' Conference on Sharia Education Concludes

Recommendations included establishing more Islamic schools with inclusive curricula. Training qualified educators proficient in local languages was deemed essential for effective knowledge dissemination. The role of mosques was emphasised in addressing challenges related to spreading Islamic knowledge among Muslim-minority communities.

The conference urged support for strengthening Islamic educational centres through financial and moral backing. It recommended partnerships with academic institutions in the Arab world to teach Islamic education and Arabic. Scholarships for Muslim-minority communities to study at Arab and Islamic universities were also advocated.

The event proposed creating digital libraries in local languages to enhance educational outreach. Close collaborations with academic institutions in the Arab and Muslim world were encouraged. Joint scientific research initiatives were suggested to foster understanding of Islam.

Additionally, the preservation of the Arabic language was stressed as vital. Support for accrediting Islamic educational efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean was also highlighted as a key focus area during discussions.

The conference underscored the importance of educational outreach to promote understanding of Islam. Participants recognised that such efforts are crucial for maintaining cultural identity within Muslim-minority communities across Latin America and the Caribbean.
