27 Teams Emerge Victorious in Gov Games 2024 Qualifiers, Set Sights on Dubai Festival City

The fifth edition of the Gov Games is set to witness a fierce competition as 27 teams have successfully qualified for the event, following an intense qualifying round held in Damac Hills 2, Dubai. These teams, along with team Parkour DXB – the reigning champions of the Gov Games 2023 Community category – are gearing up to compete in the upcoming Gov Games 2024. The event is scheduled to take place at Dubai Festival City from 29th February to 3rd March 2024, where participants will battle it out for the grand prize.

Marwan bin Essa, Director of Gov Games, expressed his enthusiasm over the high level of participation in this year's Battle of the Community. With 106 teams having registered for the qualifying round, it underscores a growing commitment among various societal segments to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. "For five editions now, the Gov Games has proactively fostered stronger social bonds among community members and helped to elevate the quality of life in Dubai, which stands at the forefront of active global cities prioritising peoples’ health and well-being," he stated.

The qualifying round witnessed intense competition among all participating teams. The anticipation is now building up for the Finals, where the 2024 Community Champion will be crowned. The Gov Games 2024 will feature a total of 168 teams across four categories: Battle of the Government with 84 teams, Battle of the Community and Battle of the Cities each with 28 teams, and Battle of the Juniors which will see 28 teams of children aged 10-13 compete in an engaging atmosphere.

The event is held in partnership with several prestigious organizations including DP World and Dubai Sports Council as Strategic Sponsor. Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) and Damac Properties are on board as Golden Sponsors, while Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and First Abu Dhabi Bank have been announced as Silver Sponsors. Additional support comes from Dubai Festival City, Home Bakery, Al Fares International Tents, and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), further highlighting the collaborative effort to make this event a success.

The Gov Games has established itself as a significant platform that not only promotes physical fitness but also strengthens community ties through spirited competition. As participants prepare for the upcoming edition, all eyes are on Dubai Festival City where champions will emerge, setting new benchmarks for excellence and community engagement in this unique sporting event.
