Saudi Arabia Apprehends Over 22,500 Violators Of Residency And Labor Laws In Recent Inspections
The Ministry of Interior recently conducted a series of inspections across Saudi Arabia from January 16 to January 22. These inspections aimed to ensure adherence to residency, labour, and border security regulations. The campaigns resulted in the identification of 22,555 violations, including breaches related to residency, border security, and labour laws.
Among the recorded violations, 14,260 were linked to residency issues. Additionally, there were 4,954 breaches concerning border security and 3,341 related to labour laws. The authorities also intercepted 1,700 individuals attempting illegal entry into the Kingdom. Of these individuals, 42% were Yemeni nationals, 56% were Ethiopians, and the remaining 2% belonged to other nationalities.

Efforts to leave Saudi Arabia illegally led to the arrest of 81 people. Furthermore, authorities detained 24 individuals for their involvement in transporting, sheltering, or employing those violating the law. Currently, procedures are underway for enforcing regulations on a total of 33,871 expatriates.
Among these expatriates undergoing procedures are 30,984 men and 2,887 women. A significant number of them—26,489—were detained for legal violations and instructed to contact their respective embassies or consulates for travel documentation. Additionally, arrangements for departure bookings were advised for 2,274 individuals.
The Ministry successfully repatriated 10,948 expatriates during this period. It has issued a stern warning against facilitating illegal entry into Saudi Arabia. Those found guilty of such acts face severe penalties including up to 15 years in prison and fines reaching SAR1 million.
The Ministry emphasised that vehicles used for transportation or houses used as shelters may be confiscated. It categorised these actions as major crimes warranting arrest. Citizens are encouraged to report any violations by contacting specific emergency numbers: call 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions; elsewhere in the Kingdom dial 999 or 996.
