Saudi Arabia Apprehends Over 21,000 Violators Of Residency And Labour Laws In Recent Inspections

Between February 13 and February 19, the Ministry of Interior conducted inspections across Saudi Arabia to ensure adherence to residency, labour, and border security laws. These efforts led to the identification of 21,222 violations: 13,202 related to residency, 4,911 concerning border security, and 3,109 involving labour laws.

During the inspection period, authorities intercepted 1,376 individuals attempting illegal entry into Saudi Arabia. Among them, 40% were identified as Yemenis, 58% as Ethiopians, and the remaining 2% belonged to other nationalities. Additionally, 86 individuals were apprehended for trying to exit the Kingdom unlawfully.

Saudi Arabia Seizes Over 21,000 Law Violators

The Ministry has detained a total of 40,519 expatriates—comprising 36,213 men and 4,306 women—who are now undergoing procedures for regulation enforcement. Of these detainees, 30,874 have been instructed to contact their respective embassies or consulates to secure appropriate travel documents. Meanwhile, 3,910 individuals have been advised to arrange their departure bookings.

Penalties for Violations

The Ministry has issued a stern warning regarding penalties for those who facilitate illegal activities. Individuals involved in aiding illegal entry or providing shelter and transport may face up to 15 years in prison and fines reaching SAR1 million. Vehicles used in these activities could also be confiscated.

A total of 22 people were arrested for their involvement in transporting, sheltering, or employing violators. The Ministry emphasises that such actions are serious crimes warranting arrest.

Reporting Violations

The Ministry encourages citizens to report any violations by calling designated numbers: 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions; and either 999 or 996 elsewhere in the Kingdom. This initiative aims to enhance community safety by ensuring compliance with national laws.

In this period of enforcement actions, a total of 10,170 expatriates have been repatriated following due process. The Ministry continues its efforts to maintain law and order through rigorous inspections and community cooperation.
