Winners Of The 24th Arab Media Award Finalised By Board Of Directors Amid Strong Competition
The Arab Media Award (AMA) Board of Directors recently convened to finalise the winners for its 24th edition. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, chaired this virtual meeting. The board reviewed the evaluation stages, ensuring they adhered to criteria promoting fairness and transparency. This year, media institutions, journalists, and writers from across the Arab world participated in a competitive environment.
Al Marri expressed gratitude towards board members and contributors for their roles in successfully completing the award process. She praised the judging panel and screening committees for selecting deserving winners while maintaining integrity and impartiality. Al Marri emphasised that the award not only celebrates excellence but also aligns with Dubai’s vision of media as a tool for human development.

Dr. Maitha Buhumaid, Secretary-General of the AMA, highlighted that the award's evolution is ongoing. Regular reviews by the Board of Directors ensure its structure and categories adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape. This commitment mirrors UAE and Dubai’s broader dedication to innovation and excellence across various sectors.
The award ceremony will take place on 27 May during the Arab Media Summit. Jasim Al Shemsi, Director of the Award, mentioned that prominent media figures and Arab journalists will attend this event. The summit will also include other significant events like the third Arab Youth Media Forum on 26 May and the 23rd edition of the Arab Media Forum on 27-28 May.
The AMA features three main categories: Journalism, Digital Media, and TV. Within Journalism, awards are given for Political Journalism, Investigative Reporting, and Economic Journalism. The TV category includes awards for Best Economic Programme, Best Social Programme, Best Cultural Programme, Best Sports Programme, and Best Documentary.
This year’s edition saw a diverse range of entries from across the Arab world. These submissions underwent rigorous evaluation by independent committees to ensure quality selection. Al Marri reiterated that this diversity reflects Dubai's commitment to fostering creativity within media.
The ‘Media Personality of the Year’ award honours an influential figure whose work has significantly impacted regional media landscapes. Additionally, a ‘Best Columnist’ award is determined by set criteria established by the Board of Directors.
Celebrating Achievements at Arab Media Summit
The AMA is part of a larger celebration at the Arab Media Summit which includes multiple awards ceremonies such as the Arab Social Media Influencers Award and Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award. These events collectively highlight achievements within various media sectors across the region.
This comprehensive approach ensures that outstanding contributions in journalism are recognised while encouraging further growth within these fields throughout Middle Eastern countries.
