Fujairah Tourism Expands Adventure, Shopping And Culture Amid Mountain Landscape
Fujairah is strengthening its position as a tourism hub, combining Gulf of Oman beaches, rugged Hajar Mountains, and historic forts with fast-growing hospitality, retail, and adventure offerings. Recent government plans, private investment, and national campaigns are working together to expand services, raise quality standards, and attract more domestic and international visitors throughout the year.
Fujairah Plan 2026, launched in 2023, places tourism development at the centre of the emirate’s growth strategy. The plan focuses on creating distinctive destinations and introduces new concepts such as adventure tourism, a segment gaining strong global momentum and support from international tourism bodies and specialist sports organisations.

Adventure tourism is anchored by the Fujairah Adventures Center, which was set up to support this niche with specialised events and global affiliations. The centre aims to position Fujairah as a leading international destination for adventure sports by hosting activities, building networks, and joining international adventure sports organisations and associations.
The same plan promotes agritourism by encouraging the transformation of local farms into sustainable visitor destinations. Guests can learn about farming routines, cultivation techniques, and animal husbandry while engaging with local production. These activities present Fujairah’s social and cultural heritage and highlight traditional agricultural practices found across the UAE.
Cultural tourism also receives attention, with international cultural events and festivals seen as tools for building connections between countries. Authorities are upgrading museums, heritage buildings, archaeological locations, and religious landmarks so they function as sustainable attractions. Waterfront service areas are being upgraded in parallel, turning key coastal stretches into integrated tourism landmarks.
Fujairah Adventure Park, located among high mountain ranges, has become a hub for mountain sports enthusiasts. The park offers cycling challenge tracks tailored for beginners, advanced riders, professional athletes, and children. These tracks are supported by training and qualification programmes aimed at building skills and improving safety for all participant groups.
Since its establishment in 2017, the Fujairah Adventures Center has seen rising demand for its activities, especially camping. Families, individual tourists, and international companies are choosing its guided outdoor experiences. The centre coordinates closely with the Fujairah Environment Authority to ensure that visitors follow safety procedures, particularly in valleys and mountain areas during the winter season.
The centre has developed mountain trails and camping sites across different parts of the emirate, backing new commercial operators in adventure tourism. It manages 15 mountain trails and runs activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and eco-friendly camping platforms within the park, encouraging low-impact visits and longer stays in natural areas.
The Fujairah Adventures Center received the Best Leading Tourism Destination in the Middle East 2025 award for its Fujairah Adventure Park project at the 32nd World Travel Awards in Dubai. The park offers more than 10 innovative adventure activities, including ziplining and the giant swing, and hosts international championships across various adventure sports, boosting Fujairah’s appeal for active tourism.
Hiking alone drew more than 12,000 visitors during the previous season, highlighting the growing popularity of mountain routes as sustainable attractions. These trails reinforce eco-tourism, bring direct benefits to local communities, and complement the emirate’s wider tourism offer, which includes beaches, historic landmarks, modern retail centres, and traditional markets.
Accommodation and infrastructure for Fujairah tourism
Alongside the focus on adventure and nature, Fujairah has worked to attract major international and regional hotel brands. The emirate now has more than 40 hotels, resorts, and hotel apartments, including a range of local and global names. Capacity in the five-star and four-star categories has risen in recent years.
Fujairah’s hospitality sector offers both luxury properties for premium travellers and more affordable accommodation. This mix has contributed to higher occupancy rates. Hotels and resorts also support destination marketing by partnering with tourism authorities, promoting local attractions, and creating packages that highlight Fujairah’s beaches, mountains, forts, museums, and cultural sites.
Several hotels sit within a five-minute drive of Fujairah International Airport, providing quick access for arriving visitors. Many properties are also close to important attractions such as Fujairah Fort, Fujairah Museum, and the Ottoman Mosque, allowing guests to combine business or leisure stays with heritage visits and city exploration.

Shopping and entertainment choices have expanded in recent years as new centres and facilities opened. The number of shopping malls has increased, and entertainment venues have grown in scale and variety. Many restaurant brands have launched branches in the emirate, offering a broad selection of cuisines and café concepts for residents and visitors.
Leisure, retail and heritage in Fujairah tourism
Umbrella Beach is one of the latest additions to Fujairah’s waterfront developments. The project includes retail outlets, restaurants, cafés, entertainment zones, water-based activities, and sports attractions. It serves as a showcase for investor creativity in combining shopping, leisure, and beachfront experiences within a single destination.
Modern commercial centres operate alongside long-established traditional markets, which continue to attract visitors. The Friday Market, located among mountains in an area known for frequent rainfall, is a key stop for travellers. Fujairah Popular Market remains busy throughout the year, drawing customers with varied products and its strong heritage atmosphere.
Traditional markets act as open-air platforms for investors offering affordable goods, popular products, and handmade crafts. They help present artisanal skills and creative handicrafts from across the emirate. Stalls display local agricultural produce, including fruits and vegetables from nearby farms, as well as locally made pottery and other household items.
Underlying these developments is Fujairah’s broader tourism appeal, including turquoise beaches along the Gulf of Oman, the Hajar Mountains, historic forts, and castles. Seasonal events and promotions add to this base, while startups and entrepreneurial projects introduce new tourism services and products under flexible regulations and government support.
The sixth edition of the World’s Coolest Winter campaign, launched under the slogan "Our winter is entrepreneurial," and implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in cooperation with relevant tourism, culture, and heritage entities across the UAE, is keen to highlight the strategic role of creative ideas and projects in supporting the tourism sector and encouraging further investment across all emirates.
