Global Auditing Leaders Gather At 2024 IIA Conference In Washington
The 2024 International Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) commenced today in Washington, D.C. A delegation from the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors, consisting of 100 internal audit leaders and service providers, is attending. This delegation is led by Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Anqari, President of the Saudi General Court of Audit and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors.
Dr. Al-Anqari emphasized that Saudi Arabia is a leader in various fields, particularly in internal auditing. He noted that the profession is evolving with technological advancements, especially artificial intelligence, which significantly impacts internal auditing. He stated, "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors, aims to be at the forefront of developing the profession."

The Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors is participating as a Diamond Sponsor at the conference. Five speakers from the institute are contributing to sessions discussing topics such as the 2035 vision for internal auditing, the consultant's role in internal auditing, integrated assurance processes across defense lines, and audit considerations in construction projects. They will also highlight Saudi Arabia's significant role in internal auditing both regionally and internationally.
Dr. Al-Anqari highlighted ongoing efforts and preparations for advancements in internal auditing. He stressed readiness for future challenges and updates on new global standards. He added that their goal is to achieve professional and technical development within internal auditing to enhance performance and efficiency across government, private, and third-sector entities.
The conference features participation from 2,300 internal auditors worldwide. Fifty-five speakers will address seven main topics related to internal auditing practices: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fraud and crime prevention, sustainability, international standards for internal auditing, governance and leadership relationships with boards of directors, as well as human and social capital management.
