1st Red Sea Turtles Conservation Symposium In Jeddah Explores Biodiversity Protection Strategies

The 1st International Symposium for the Conservation of Sea Turtles in the Red Sea commenced in Jeddah on Sunday. The event focuses on innovative strategies to preserve biodiversity. Over four days, it explores the theme "Navigating the Future: Advancing Sea Turtle Conservation in the Red Sea through Science, Collaboration, and Innovation." Experts and researchers gathered to discuss marine turtle protection challenges, coral reef conservation, and community involvement.

Organised by the General Organization for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea (SHAMS), the symposium runs from November 3 to 6. It addresses the status of Red Sea turtles and environmental issues they face. The event features over 30 speakers, 10 scientific sessions, 20 presentations, and interactive workshops to facilitate experience sharing among participants.

Khalid Al-Asfhani, CEO of SHAMS, highlighted that this symposium marks a pivotal moment in efforts to protect marine turtles.
