Global Tourism Leaders Explore UAE's Innovative Approaches To Sustainable Tourism Development

The UAE recently hosted 16 senior tourism leaders from nine countries through its Global Tourism Leadership Programme. This initiative, organised by the Government Knowledge Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Dubai College of Tourism, aimed to share the UAE's innovative tourism strategies. Participants included state secretaries, CEOs, directors-general, and senior officials from Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Georgia, Montenegro, Seychelles, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Kenya.

The programme's primary goal was to provide international leaders with practical tools and strategic knowledge for sustainable tourism development in their countries. It also aimed to enhance their readiness to tackle future challenges in the sector. Through field visits and expert-led sessions, participants explored best practices in travel services and technology-driven innovation.

Tourism Leaders Discover UAE's Strategies

Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, emphasised that this programme reflects the UAE’s dedication to knowledge sharing. "The programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to knowledge sharing, fostering international partnerships, and reinforcing its position as a leading global tourism destination," he stated.

The programme included leadership dialogues and immersive learning sessions. Participants visited leading tourism entities across the UAE to explore key pillars such as traveller behaviour and motivations, tourism services, and the end-to-end travel journey. The role of technology in shaping the future of tourism was also a significant focus.

Specialised experts conducted interactive sessions offering advanced technical and strategic insights. These sessions prepared participants to become future leaders committed to innovation and sustainable tourism development. The initiative aimed to equip them with skills necessary for advancing their home countries' tourism sectors.

Global Cooperation in Government Practices

The UAE government initiated the Government Experience Exchange Programme in 2018. This programme shares leading government practices globally to strengthen cooperation in government modernisation and development. Since its inception, it has partnered with numerous nations to build institutional capacities and enhance government performance.

This exchange programme focuses on advancing strategic initiatives and pioneering public services worldwide. By collaborating with various countries, it aims to improve government efficiency through shared expertise and innovative practices.

This initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to fostering international partnerships while reinforcing its status as a global leader in tourism. By equipping international leaders with essential skills and insights into sustainable tourism development, it contributes significantly to global efforts in enhancing travel experiences.
