13th Global Forum On Sustainability And CSR Commences In Dubai With Key Leaders Addressing Sustainable Growth

The 13th Global Forum on Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commenced in Dubai, organised by the Arabia CSR Network. Themed "Sustainable Growth: Leading Global Change," it is under the Ministry of Economy and Tourism's patronage. Ministers, UN officials, business leaders, academic experts, and youth representatives from various countries are participating in this two-day event.

Dr. Eng. Sigit Reliantoro, Indonesia's Deputy Minister for Environmental Governance and Sustainable Natural Resources, delivered a keynote address. He stressed the need to align government policies with green investments for sustainable development. He praised the UAE's leadership in promoting green economy principles and highlighted initiatives like the Arabia CSR Network and Majra as global models supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Global Forum on Sustainability Opens in Dubai

Bérangère Boëll, UN Resident Coordinator to the UAE, also addressed attendees, emphasising the UAE's pivotal role in advancing global sustainability efforts. Sarah Shaw, CEO of Majra, discussed community initiatives' impact on balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility. She highlighted how these initiatives enhance companies' positive contributions.

The forum's first day featured a panel discussion with Dr Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius and biodiversity expert. She shared insights into nature-development links, stressing that informed leadership and scientific knowledge are crucial for addressing climate challenges and safeguarding the planet.

The initial session titled "From Waste to Worth: Advancing a Regenerative Model" examined integrating circular economy principles into modern industries. The second session, "From Farm to Home," focused on food security solutions and agricultural innovation amid climate change challenges. The third session explored regional partnerships in water management under "Turning the Tide: Effective Cross-Border Collaboration."

The day concluded with an interactive youth dialogue titled "The Power of Youth: Inspiring Minds in a Changing World." Participants shared visions for how younger generations can lead towards a more sustainable future through innovation.

Engaging Young Innovators

Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Founder and CEO of the Arabia CSR Network, noted this year's forum features extensive international participation with a focus on sharing experiences related to sustainable transformation. Interactive sessions covered topics like climate change, waste-to-energy solutions, food security, green economy, sustainable finance, and urban development.

Al Mar’ashi highlighted that young Emiratis and entrepreneurs have a significant platform at the forum to present their innovative projects reflecting environmental and social responsibility. She affirmed that the forum is now a global platform unifying efforts for change through practical plans for future action.

Sustainable growth demands collaboration among governments, private sectors, academia, and civil society to build a resilient future. The ideas shared at this forum represent coordinated collective actions essential for achieving this goal.
