1 Billion Pitches Competition Attracts 500 Submissions From Startups Across 40 Countries

The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the largest event of its kind globally, has announced that its "1 Billion Pitches" competition received 500 entries from 40 different countries. These submissions primarily focused on areas such as education, technology and innovation, women's empowerment, community development, literature, entrepreneurship, healthcare, social media, and creative content.

The competition drew in 250 registered startups and content creators with innovative ideas. They had the opportunity to present their projects live at the Summit's third edition. This event is organised by the New Media Academy and will take place from 11 to 13 January 2025 under the theme ‘Content for Good’.

500 Submissions for 1 Billion Pitches Competition

Alia Al Hammadi, CEO of the New Media Academy, highlighted the significant interest in the competition. She emphasised its role in empowering content creators and startups by providing essential funding and support. This enables them to develop their ideas and unlock new growth opportunities within the content creation industry.

"The 1B Pitches competition reflects the 1 Billion Followers Summit's commitment to nurturing emerging talent and driving innovation in the digital sphere. This directly supports the Summit's aims of building a global community of creators and influencers who produce meaningful, value-driven content with a positive social impact."

A dedicated team will carefully review all submissions to select the top 25 applications based on criteria such as innovation, feasibility, pitch quality, market potential, creativity, scalability, social and economic impact potential, and leadership capabilities. They will also evaluate financial potential and investor appeal.

Chosen participants will engage in a mentorship program organised by the Summit. This initiative aims to help them refine their pitches and enhance their chances of success. The competition unfolds over three days in January.

Competition Dynamics

Initially, 25 applicants will present their ideas at the Summit. On the second day, this number will be reduced to ten finalists. The final round will see two competitors vying for first and second places. Winners stand to gain invaluable support including potential funding and strategic partnerships.

The Summit aims to inspire a billion-strong audience by bringing together leading content creators and social media pioneers worldwide. It explores how new media can drive national economies forward while advancing sustainable development goals globally.
