1 Billion Followers Summit Launches $1 Million Content Creator Award
The 1 Billion Followers Summit, a major event for content creators, has opened applications for the "One Billion Award." This award offers a million-dollar prize to honour outstanding content creation. It aims to highlight the positive impact of content and motivate creators to produce meaningful work that inspires change. Applications are open until 30th November 2024 via the summit's website.
Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stated that this award reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The goal is to position the UAE as a centre for innovative content creation. Al Gergawi said, "The launch of this largest global award for excellence in content creation embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for establishing the UAE as a hub for innovative and impactful content creation."

Applicants must detail their projects' history and key concepts. Third-party nominations are also accepted for creators who contribute positively to communities. The award seeks content with scientific, cultural, humanitarian, and social value that inspires unity and sustainability. Content should be original and meet social media standards.
The selection process begins with judging from 1st to 15th December 2024. A panel will evaluate entries to select ten finalists. Public voting will occur from 16th to 31st December. Judges will tally these votes on 11th and 12th January 2025. The winner will be announced at the summit's closing ceremony on 13th January.
The summit's second edition in 2024 saw record engagement with over 7,000 participants from 95 countries. More than 3,000 were content creators generating over 300 million social media interactions. Partnerships were formed between creators and over 200 production companies during this event.
Summit Tracks Enhance Learning
The upcoming summit in January 2025 introduces three specialised tracks: technology, economy, and content. These tracks aim to enhance learning for both amateur and professional creators by providing focused experiences. This approach allows attendees to connect with like-minded individuals while maximising knowledge advancement.
In its previous edition, the summit featured talks by global influencers. There were also panel discussions exploring digital media trends and its role in societal development. The hashtag #1BillionSummit achieved significant online engagement with millions of interactions.
The summit aims to reach over a billion people globally by bringing together top social media influencers across platforms. It explores how new media can drive societal change and support sustainable economic growth worldwide through innovative content creation strategies.
