1 Billion Followers Summit Announces Fourth Edition Agenda And $1 Million AI Film Prize For 2026
The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the largest global event for the creator economy, has finalised its agenda for its fourth edition. Organised by the UAE Government Media Office, it highlights the UAE's role as a leader in digital content creation. The summit will feature a US$1 million prize for AI-generated films and speakers with over 3 billion followers combined.
Scheduled from 9th to 11th January 2026, the summit will occur under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's patronage. It will take place at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre, and the Museum of the Future. The theme is "Content for Good."

The summit's preparatory meetings gathered CEOs from top social media platforms, industry experts, and leading content creators. Discussions focused on enhancing media presence, storytelling strategies, and purposeful content creation. Topics included technological trends, shifts in the creator economy, intellectual property tools, AI advancements, and combating misinformation.
During these meetings, it was announced that AED50 million is allocated for the Creators Ventures Programme. This initiative supports creative projects with cultural and economic impact globally. It offers grants for socially impactful projects and funding for joint ventures led by content creators or tech developers.
The summit aims to support purposeful film production using AI tools. It seeks to raise awareness of humanitarian messages conveyed through films while enhancing creative capabilities in integrating AI into filmmaking. Short films are central to this initiative due to their effectiveness in delivering impactful messages.
The prize requires films to be entirely AI-generated with creativity and realism as key criteria. Judging will focus on storytelling, creativity, AI integration, execution, and alignment with humanitarian themes. More details about the competition will be shared in September.
Expanding Opportunities for Innovation
The fourth edition's agenda includes more interactive sessions and international partnerships than before. This expansion provides greater opportunities for content creators to innovate impactful works. The UAE aims to empower creators by offering an environment conducive to growth and global expansion.
A new Content Creation Companies Pavilion will debut at this edition. It represents a significant step in advancing the content economy by empowering young creatives through inspiration from successful content creators who have built their companies.
Supporting Startups and Entrepreneurs
The pavilion will host around 100 SMEs founded by content creators who transitioned into entrepreneurship. Through 10 display platforms, it offers space for presenting ideas and experiences while fostering collaboration among emerging creators entering this promising sector.
The Creators Ventures Programme also launched its second edition during these meetings. Organised by Creators HQ with 500 Global's support, it aims to attract global talent and encourage startups worldwide to relocate their headquarters to the UAE.
Prominent Figures Join as Ambassadors
The programme provides funding support for startups presenting pioneering ideas in content creation before a panel of leading investors who may sponsor selected projects. By facilitating discussions around project ideas directly with juries exploring market success potential requirements needed support funding opportunities arise.
Five new ambassadors were appointed: Simon Squibb (entrepreneur), Alexandra Mary Hirschi (Supercar Blondie), Khalid Al Ameri (content creator), Omar Farooq (Bahraini creator), Ammar Kandil (Yes Theory co-founder). They bring diverse expertise inspiring future generations within creative industries globally.

Main partners include SEE Holding (Dubai Sustainable City developer), Emirates (official airline), MBC Group Sony Dubai Chamber Digital Economy among others like Museum Future RTA DIFC Dinner Sky Rode Talent Plus major digital platforms Google Meta Instagram YouTube X TikTok Snapchat participating too!
