Brad Pitt-Starrer 'F1' Shot At Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Wraps Up Production In 29 Days

As the curtain fell on the 2024 Formula 1 season, Apple Original Films revealed the completion of their much-anticipated movie "F1" in Abu Dhabi. This film, a culmination of cinematic effort, was shot in the thrilling environment of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, marking a significant partnership with the Creative Media Authority and Abu Dhabi Film Commission.

The production of "F1" took place over 29 days in Abu Dhabi, utilizing iconic locations such as the Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed International Airport, and twofour54 Studios at Yas Creative Hub. The project brought together a diverse cast including Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, and Javier Bardem, supported by an international team and local crew of 284, along with 15 local interns, including 5 Emiratis, under the guidance of Abu Dhabi Film Commission's rebate scheme.

In "F1", Brad Pitt stars as a former driver who makes a thrilling return to Formula 1 racing, joining forces with Damson Idris at APXGP, a fictional team in the high-stakes world of F1 competition. This narrative is enriched by a stellar cast, including Oscar-winner Javier Bardem and nominees Kerry Condon, alongside Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo. The film promises to deliver an authentic and exhilarating depiction of Formula 1 racing, capturing the essence and excitement of the sport.

The film is a collective effort, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced in collaboration with notable figures such as Sir Lewis Hamilton, Jerry Bruckheimer, and the teams at Plan B Entertainment and Monolith Pictures. It benefits from the full support of the Formula 1 community, including Formula 1 Management, the 10 racing teams, F1 drivers, and the FIA. Ehren Kruger, known for his work on "Top Gun: Maverick", penned the screenplay, adding a layer of credibility and depth to the film's narrative.

Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi's Creative Media Authority, expressed excitement over the partnership with Apple Original Films and the successful hosting of the third and final shoot in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration highlights Abu Dhabi's appeal as a filming location, credited to its leadership, secure environment, talented workforce, and comprehensive support systems. Dobay anticipates showcasing Abu Dhabi's iconic landmarks on the big screen and fostering future collaborations with Apple Original Films.

Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of Abu Dhabi Film Commission, shared his enthusiasm for the project's impact on local talent development. The film's production not only featured Emirati talent but also involved over 284 local crew members and 15 young interns, including five Emirati youth.

Scheduled for a grand release, "F1" will hit theaters worldwide and in IMAX®. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute it in North America on 27 June 2025, with international screenings starting from 25 June 2025.

The film's production in Abu Dhabi showcases the city's capabilities as a premier filming destination, setting the stage for future collaborations and highlighting the talent within the region.
