Emirati Psychological Horror-Thriller HOBA Now Available In Cinemas Across The UAE
The much-anticipated film, HOBA, has finally arrived in UAE cinemas. This Arabic-language horror and psychological thriller is a collaboration between Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Spooky Pictures. After its star-studded premiere in Abu Dhabi, audiences can now experience its unique blend of raw emotion and suspense.
Directed by Majid Al Ansari, an acclaimed Emirati filmmaker known for his bold storytelling, HOBA made its world debut at Fantastic Fest 2025 in Austin, Texas. This festival is renowned for showcasing innovative films. HOBA won Best Picture in the Horror Feature category, marking a significant achievement for Al Ansari and Emirati cinema globally.

Set within an Emirati household, the film follows Amani, played by Bdoor Mohammed. Her life takes a dramatic turn when her husband introduces a second wife, Zahra, portrayed by Sarah Taibah. What starts as a domestic drama soon becomes a chilling tale of love, fear, and survival as an unseen force grips their home.
The cast also includes Eman Tarik as Noor, Amani's daughter, and Jasem AlKharraz as Khalid, Amani's husband. The film's narrative explores complex emotions and relationships within the family dynamic.
Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy, and Rami Yasin produced HOBA with Mohamed Hefzy and Yasir Al Yasiri serving as executive producers. This film is the first Arabic-language project from the partnership between Image Nation and Spooky Pictures. It merges Hollywood craftsmanship with Emirati storytelling in a compelling manner.
Filmed entirely in Abu Dhabi with support from twofour54, the production showcases the emirate's top-notch filmmaking infrastructure. Abu Dhabi is gaining recognition as a creative hub for both international and regional cinema.
After its release in UAE cinemas through Majid Al Futtaim – Vox Independent Distribution, HOBA will also be shown in Saudi Arabia. This expansion is part of Image Nation's collaboration with Telfaz11, a leading media company.
