Downton Abbey 3 To Premiere In 2025: Full Cast Details Revealed
Fans of the Crawley family can look forward to their return, as Downton Abbey 3 is set to hit the screens on September 12, 2025. The film is currently being produced in the UK, with Julian Fellowes penning the script and Simon Curtis directing, who also directed Downton Abbey: A New Era, released in 2022.
Returning Cast and New Additions
The movie will feature familiar faces from the franchise, including Hugh Bonneville, Dominic West, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera, Douglas Reith and Dominic West. New additions to the cast include Paul Giamatti reprising his role from the original TV series alongside Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan. The makers have also hinted at bringing back other regulars from the hit TV show.
Downton Abbey 3 Plot Details
Although not much has been revealed about the plot of Downton Abbey 3, it is expected to pick up where A New Era left off. The previous film concluded in the late 1920s with the tragic death of Maggie Smith's character Lady Violet Crawley. Lady Violet passed on her legacy to her granddaughter Lady Mary played by Michelle Dockery.
Gareth Neame, Julian Fellowes and Liz Trubridge are producing Downton Abbey 3 as a Carnival Films production. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will handle distribution.
