Creative Media Authority And Roots Production Studios Collaborate To Boost Abu Dhabi's Creative Industries
The Creative Media Authority (CMA) has joined forces with Roots Production Studios, an Emirati-owned creative enterprise, to bolster Abu Dhabi's media landscape. This three-year collaboration aims to produce over three productions annually in the emirate, utilising local talent from CMA's network of 800 businesses and more than 1,000 freelancers.
Roots will also contribute to the community by offering knowledge transfer opportunities. Each year, four young Emiratis will benefit from traineeships, while three industry workshops will be conducted for the creative sector. These initiatives are designed to nurture local talent and enhance skills within the industry.
CMA is committed to fostering local talent by providing Roots with office space and a studio on Yas Island. This facility will enable Roots to manage its operations and offer postproduction services efficiently. The partnership underscores CMA's dedication to supporting Emirati creatives.
Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director General of CMA, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. "Our passion and dedication to supporting local Emirati talent is underpinned by this significant partnership with one of the leading Emirati-owned production studios," he stated.
Yasser Hareb, CEO of Roots, highlighted the importance of collaboration in creativity. "Collaboration is at the heart of creativity and we are looking to the exciting future of our creative industry through the formation of government and business ties which will see the continued flourishing of the Emirati production industry," he said.
Hareb also emphasised his pride in promoting Emirati talent both in front of and behind the camera. "For many years, I have been extremely proud to provide a platform for Emirati talent in front and behind the camera to take our powerful narratives and content to the wider public, and I will continue to do so," he added.
This partnership between CMA and Roots represents a significant step towards enriching Abu Dhabi's creative media ecosystem by leveraging local expertise and fostering new opportunities for growth.
