Volkswagen Announces Sponsorship Of Gulf United Football Club To Nurture Young Talent

Volkswagen Middle East has taken a significant stride in bolstering community football by partnering with Gulf United Football Club. This collaboration heralds a new chapter in promoting inclusive football opportunities within the UAE. A key highlight of this partnership is the launch of the Volkswagen Cup, a tournament dedicated to nurturing young football talents and enhancing family engagement in the sport.

Gulf United FC, a first division league team, prides itself on consecutive promotions and league victories, becoming the first team in the UAE to achieve such a feat. The club's dedication extends off the pitch, focusing on developing young athletes through various programs including academy, residential, and scholarship initiatives.

The inception of the Volkswagen Cup through this partnership offers a platform for budding footballers, both girls and boys aged 4-12 years, to showcase their skills. Scheduled for 8 March 2024 at Kings School Al Barsha, the event anticipates participation from 32 teams, promising a day of spirited competition and enjoyment.

A Vision Of Inclusivity And Development

Matthias Ziegler, Managing Director at Volkswagen Middle East, lauded the partnership saying: "Our partnership with Gulf United FC brings the people's club together with the people's car. At Volkswagen Middle East we’re more than just vehicles; we’re about the experiences that bring people together. Teaming up with Gulf United FC reflects our 'Made for Everyone’ spirit, driving forward joy, passion, and a sense of community through the power of football.”

Mohammed Jarad, Director of Marketing at Gulf United Football Club, emphasises its alignment with their shared vision of fostering an inclusive environment where young talents can thrive, irrespective of their background or skill level. "Gulf United FC was built to create a brighter future for young people through the power of sports. In partnership with Volkswagen, we look forward to creating more opportunities that allow every individual, regardless of their ability, to partake, grow, and excel in football."

This initiative also marks a continuation of Volkswagen Middle East's commitment to football, following a successful partnership with the Qatar Foundation established last year. It represents a pivotal step in the brand's global strategy, "we drive football," aiming at cultivating a passion for the sport and fostering a sense of belonging among the community.

The collaboration between Volkswagen Middle East and Gulf United FC is more than a sponsorship. It is a commitment to the grassroots development of football in the UAE. By supporting local talent and encouraging widespread participation, this partnership is poised to leave an enduring impact on the region's football landscape, ensuring a brighter, more inclusive future for the sport.
