Vinicius Junior Advocates For Patience After Brazil's Goalless Draw In Copa America

Vinicius Junior admitted that Brazil needs to improve after their 0-0 draw with Costa Rica in the Copa America opener. The nine-time champions were held at the SoFi Stadium, with Los Ticos becoming only the third CONCACAF team to keep a clean sheet against Brazil in the tournament, following Mexico (2001 and 2007) and Honduras (2001).

Brazil managed 19 attempts on Patrick Sequeira's goal but only three were on target. Rodrygo had six chances, while Lucas Paqueta had five. Vinicius failed to make an impact and was substituted by Endrick for the final 20 minutes. The 23-year-old has now been replaced in Brazil's last six competitive matches.

Vinicius: Patience Key for Brazil

Vinicius, who scored 24 goals in 39 appearances for Real Madrid this season, arrived at the tournament with high expectations. Neymar, Brazil's all-time leading scorer, is out of the Copa America due to injury. Vinicius has registered just one assist in his last five national team appearances.

"We know we can improve, we have to improve," Vinicius said. "I also know what I can improve, evolve and do for our team." He urged fans to be patient as the team adjusts to new players and a new coach. "Our fans want everything immediately done, but we're going little by little," he added.

Brazil will face Paraguay in Las Vegas on Saturday before concluding their Group D campaign against Colombia, who beat Paraguay on Matchday 1. Vinicius remains optimistic about their next game: "In the next game, I'm sure we'll play much better because we now already understand what the competition will be like."

Challenges Ahead

The Real Madrid winger noted that every time he plays for the national team, he faces intense marking from opponents. "Every time I enter the field for the national team, I have three or four players marking me," he said.

Despite their struggles against Costa Rica, Vinicius remains hopeful that Brazil will perform better as they adapt to the tournament's conditions. "New coach, new players, everything takes time," he said.

The Brazilian squad is determined to improve and secure success in their upcoming matches. With key players like Vinicius acknowledging areas for improvement and calling for patience from fans, there is optimism that Brazil will find their form as the tournament progresses.
