Theo Hernandez Undecided On Milan Stay As He Prepares For Euro 2024

Theo Hernandez Focuses on Euro 2024 Amid Transfer Speculations

Theo Hernandez has chosen not to comment on his future with AC Milan amid ongoing links to Bayern Munich, as the French international defender concentrates fully on the upcoming Euro 2024. Hernandez, whose brother Lucas plays for Paris Saint-Germain, has reportedly attracted interest from Bayern Munich, led by Vincent Kompany, as the Bundesliga club seeks to strengthen its defence.

Hernandez's Milan Future in Doubt

The 26-year-old has been a standout performer for Milan, who recently appointed Paulo Fonseca as the successor to Stefano Pioli. Despite Milan's underwhelming finish behind rivals Inter in the 2023-24 season, Hernandez's consistent form has sparked speculation about his future in Italy. However, Hernandez is not allowing these rumours to distract him ahead of France's Euro 2024 opener against Austria on Monday.

"Now I am 100 per cent focused on the Euros," Hernandez stated on Saturday. "Whether I will stay at Milan or leave, we'll see about this afterwards." When asked about a potential return to Spain, he responded, "At the moment I'm not thinking about it yet."

Hernandez played a crucial role for Milan in the past season, scoring five goals—the highest among Serie A defenders. Only Inter's Federico Dimarco surpassed Hernandez's nine direct goal contributions in the league among defenders. Both players are set to compete at the European Championship in Germany.

France's head coach Didier Deschamps is expected to leverage Hernandez's attacking prowess as Les Bleus aim to improve upon their runner-up finish at Euro 2016, where they lost to Portugal in the final. "We are working to be at our best; this is a competition where there are very good national teams," Hernandez added. "We have made good preparations and now we feel the impatience to play this debut match."

Reflecting on his development, Hernandez said, "I like attacking; I love the offensive phase. With the coach, we tried various situations. I made progress from a defensive point of view. When I arrived at Milan, I wasn't very good in defence. Now it's better, but I prefer to attack."

As France prepares for their Euro 2024 campaign, Hernandez remains a key figure both defensively and offensively. His performance will be crucial as France aims to replicate their success from the 2022 World Cup and go one step further in this European Championship.
