Erik Ten Hag Questions Future At Manchester United After FA Cup Triumph
Erik ten Hag has expressed uncertainty about his future as Manchester United's manager after leading the team to FA Cup victory. The Dutchman faced Manchester City in a repeat of last year's final, with his job reportedly at risk regardless of the outcome. Despite the pressure, United secured a 2-1 win with first-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
This victory provided a positive conclusion to a challenging season for United, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League but still qualify for European football next term. However, speculation continues regarding Ten Hag's future. During the team's lap of honour, he waved to supporters after collecting his second trophy in two years at Old Trafford.

When asked by BBC Sport if this was his last game in charge, Ten Hag responded, "I don't know. The only thing I can do is prepare my team, progress and develop my team and individual players. This is a project. When I came in, it was a mess. We are better, but we are by far not where we want to be."
Ten Hag emphasised the importance of winning trophies and playing dynamic, attacking football. "Football is about winning trophies. I want to play the best football. I want to play dynamic football, attacking football, but in the end, you have to win games and trophies. That is the mentality that we brought in."
Ten Hag could face a similar fate as Louis van Gaal, who was dismissed after winning the FA Cup in 2016. The 54-year-old believes he and his team were unfairly treated by the media throughout the campaign, citing injuries to key players as a significant hindrance.
"I think so. The team, me as well—it was not right," Ten Hag said. "We didn't have the players. It was not always good football, but we have had to make compromises all the time; then you can't play the football you want to play."
Injuries and Squad Limitations
Ten Hag highlighted that he rarely had a full squad available during his two-year tenure. "I have been here two years, and we maybe had three, four times, the full squad [available]. Today, we had some massive players like Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Casemiro not on board."
Despite these challenges, he praised his team's performance and adherence to their identity. "All the compliments to the team. They have played very well, to our identity. You can see when we have the players on board how we can play to our philosophy."
Resilience Amidst Setbacks
Ten Hag reiterated that fitness issues affected their ability to perform consistently against top teams. "Some of them are not even fit or match fit. I have said the whole year when the players are fit, we can play good football and have a good performance against the best team in the world."
The manager also acknowledged the significance of local rivalries but stressed that their focus was on proving a point after a tough year. "Always, when you have a local rivalry, it's much more important when you play against the other team from the city. But for us, it was not about this; it was more to prove a point after such a tough year."
Despite numerous setbacks, Ten Hag expressed pride in his team's resilience throughout the season.
