Ten Hag Fights To Keep 'Important' McTominay Amidst Manchester United Exit Talks
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Manchester United have no intention of selling Scott McTominay, despite ongoing rumours about the midfielder's potential departure from Old Trafford. McTominay, who joined United at the age of five, has attracted interest from Galatasaray and Fulham. The latter even had a £17 million bid turned down.
The Scotland international had his best season in 2023-24, scoring 10 goals before representing his country at Euro 2024. Although there are reports suggesting that Manchester United are looking to sell players, Ten Hag is adamant that McTominay should remain with the team. "We have very good players, so there will always be interest from other clubs," Ten Hag stated.

Ten Hag highlighted McTominay's contributions last season, particularly when he played in a more advanced role after the team's defensive midfielders were available. "When you score 10 goals in a season and also perform very well for Scotland, then there will be interest," Ten Hag added. "But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad."
Ten Hag emphasised McTominay's versatility and importance to the team. He noted that once their defensive midfielders were fit, McTominay could play further up the pitch, making him a valuable asset. "What he can contribute, as we saw last season once we had our sixes available, he could play in a more advanced role, and he is a highly interesting player for our team," said Ten Hag.

The club's stance on McTominay reflects their recognition of his value and potential future contributions. Despite external interest, Manchester United aims to retain key players like him to strengthen their squad for upcoming challenges.
