Switzerland Eyes Victory Over England In Euro 2024 Quarter-Final, Ignores Squad Talk
Switzerland midfielder Steven Zuber has stated that his team is not distracted by discussions about England's squad ahead of their quarter-final match on Saturday. Despite heavy criticism directed at England for their Euro 2024 performances, Zuber remains focused on his team's strengths.
"The England squad, we do not need to speak about their quality or something else," Zuber said. "I am not close to the team or what is going on. To be honest, it is also not my business or our business, we are just looking for ourselves."

Zuber emphasised that Switzerland will demonstrate their abilities on the field in Dusseldorf. "We know our strengths, we know our quality and we are looking forward to the game, to show our quality on the pitch, not beside the pitch because we are not good at talking, we are good at showing our quality on the pitch," he added.
Switzerland has been impressive in the tournament so far, having eliminated reigning champions Italy in their last-16 match last Saturday. This achievement has boosted their confidence as they prepare for the upcoming challenge against England.
The Swiss team has historically struggled at this stage, being knocked out in all four of their previous attempts. However, Zuber is optimistic about overcoming these past limitations. He expressed hope that both players and fans have moved beyond thinking certain boundaries cannot be crossed.
"I really hope that we don't set limits for ourselves, not just us as players but the entire country," Zuber told broadcaster RSI. "I hope this mentality of thinking that certain boundaries cannot be crossed has disappeared."
Confidence Against Favourites
Zuber acknowledged that while it may be challenging to consistently defeat top teams, he believes Switzerland can cause difficulties for favourites. "It is not possible to regularly beat important teams, although the so-called favourites may run into difficulties. Certain boundaries should no longer matter to us," he said.
The Swiss team's positive mindset and strong performance in practice sessions have been evident throughout Euro 2024. Their determination and focus will be crucial as they face England in Dusseldorf.
