Strasbourg Appoints Liam Rosenior As Head Coach After Vieira's Departure
Strasbourg has appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, succeeding Patrick Vieira. Vieira departed the club last week by mutual consent after leading them to a 13th-place finish in Ligue 1 during his sole season.
Rosenior, who previously managed Hull City, was unexpectedly dismissed in May. Under his leadership, Hull narrowly missed out on a Championship play-off spot by three points, finishing seventh. Before Hull, Rosenior served as Brighton and Hove Albion's assistant manager and had a brief stint as Derby County's interim manager in 2022.

The BlueCo consortium, led by Todd Boehly, owns Strasbourg. This group also facilitated Chelsea's takeover in 2022. Strasbourg's decision to hire Rosenior aligns with their vision for the club's future growth and development.
Strasbourg president Marc Keller and the board of directors expressed their enthusiasm for Rosenior’s appointment. "We are pleased to welcome Liam, a young coach known for his ability to make his teams play well and develop his players. His arrival will allow Racing to continue to grow. We welcome him to Alsace," they stated.
During Rosenior’s tenure at Hull from November 2022 to May 2023, the team accumulated 108 points from 76 Championship games. Only Middlesbrough and West Brom surpassed this tally with 124 points each.
Hull City's Performance Under Rosenior
Hull City showcased impressive statistics under Rosenior’s guidance. The team scored 98 goals, making them the sixth-best attack in the division. Defensively, they ranked fourth among teams that played every match, conceding only 86 goals.
Rosenior also has an international playing background, having earned seven caps for England’s under-21 team during his career.
The Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace announced Rosenior’s appointment on July 25, 2024. The club is optimistic about the positive impact he will bring to the team.
