Spain's Euro 2024 Triumph: De La Fuente Leads Team To Perfect Group Stage
Spain's coach, Luis de la Fuente, has instilled excitement in the team following their flawless performance at Euro 2024. They secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Albania, maintaining a perfect record in Group B. Spain had already clinched the top spot and qualification for the last 16 but ensured they advanced with three wins and no goals conceded.
Ferran Torres, who was one of ten changes from the previous match against Italy, scored the decisive goal after just 13 minutes. He latched onto Dani Olmo's precise through ball and beat Albania's goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha with a superb first-time finish. This goal marked Torres' seventh direct involvement (five goals, two assists) since De la Fuente took charge, equalling Joselu's record.

The confidence within La Roja is growing rapidly. They last won all three group-stage matches at a European Championship during their title-winning campaign in 2008. Torres expressed his pride in representing Spain and his determination to make the most of every opportunity given by the coach. "I'm proud to represent my country," he said. "I want to continue making history with Spain."
Torres also shared insights about his goal: "Before the match, I had already talked about it with [Dani] Olmo, that he would give me those passes into space. I didn't think twice when it came to me."
With Spain's last-16 opponents yet to be determined, Mikel Merino echoed Torres' sentiments about not being concerned about who they face next. "We're talking about a team [Albania] that gave Croatia and Italy a tough time," Merino noted. "They can hurt you if you don't master the transitions."
Goalkeeper David Raya praised the team's overall performance against Albania. "It was a very good game from the whole group," he said. "We knew it wasn't easy because of what [Albania] were playing for." Despite Albania creating chances and needing three points, Spain managed to secure victory.
Albania finished bottom of Group B with one point, one less than third-place Croatia. This result guarantees England a place in the knockout stages regardless of their outcome against Slovenia on Tuesday.
Spain's journey continues as they prepare for tougher challenges ahead in Euro 2024. The team's unity and determination are evident as they aim to replicate past successes on Europe's grand stage.
