Spain Edges Past France With Yamal And Olmo Goals To Reach Euro 2024 Final
Lamine Yamal made history with a record-breaking goal, and Dani Olmo propelled Spain into the Euro 2024 final with a 2-1 win over France. Yamal's stunning long-range equaliser came shortly after Randal Kolo Muani's ninth-minute opener in Tuesday's semi-final in Munich. At 16, Yamal became the youngest scorer at a major tournament.
Spain's coach Luis de la Fuente led his team to this clash as the only side to win all five games at the tournament, including extra time. They started dominantly, almost scoring within five minutes. Yamal had too much space and set up Fabian Ruiz, who missed an open header.

At 16 years and 362 days old, Yamal became the youngest player to appear in a semi-final at a major international tournament. This record was previously held by Brazil's Pele. Not content with just that, Yamal also surpassed Pele as the youngest scorer in history at either major tournament.
Despite their early dominance, Spain fell behind when Kylian Mbappe set up Kolo Muani to head past Unai Simon. However, Yamal brought Spain back into the game with a curling strike from 25 yards out. This moment spurred Spain on, and Olmo scored the decisive goal soon after.
Dani Olmo has been instrumental for Spain, contributing three goals and two assists in this tournament. He is the first Spanish player to be involved in five or more goals at a single major tournament since David Silva at Euro 2012.
France improved after halftime but couldn't find an equaliser despite several chances. Theo Hernandez missed a golden opportunity with 15 minutes left, and Mbappe also failed to score later on. Spain held on to secure their place in the final.
France's Struggles Continue
Didier Deschamps' side had been unconvincing throughout the tournament and struggled again in this match. Although they improved in the second half, they couldn't find a leveller as Spain set up a final against either the Netherlands or England.
Kolo Muani's goal was France's first from open play at Euro 2024. It came from their 87th non-penalty attempt of the tournament. Despite this breakthrough, France conceded twice within 25 minutes—more than they had allowed in their previous five matches combined.
Spain's Record-Breaking Run
This victory marked Spain's sixth consecutive win at the Euros, an achievement no other team has managed before. They are also the first side to win six matches in a single European Championship tournament (including extra time but not penalties).
Maignan was fortunate early in the second half when he raced towards Nico Williams near the touchline but avoided conceding another goal due to his questionable challenge. Aurelien Tchouameni then headed straight at Simon from Ousmane Dembele’s corner.
The rapid turnaround marked the first time France had taken a lead but trailed by halftime in European Championship history. This first-half collapse proved decisive as Spain advanced to their fifth Euros final.
This historic match will be remembered for Yamal’s brilliance and Olmo’s crucial contributions as Spain continue their impressive run at Euro 2024.
