Southampton Sets Up Championship Playoff Final With Leeds After Defeating West Brom
Southampton secured a 3-1 victory over West Brom at St Mary's on Friday, setting up a Championship play-off final against Leeds United. Leeds had earlier defeated Norwich City 4-0 at Elland Road, confirming their place at Wembley on May 26. The first leg between Southampton and West Brom ended goalless, mirroring the other semi-final.
Russell Martin's side controlled the first half, with David Brooks coming closest to scoring when his shot hit the outside of the post. Despite dominating possession, Southampton couldn't break the deadlock before halftime.

Southampton made their breakthrough four minutes into the second half. Will Smallbone scored with a powerful finish after Gray Diangana lost possession. Darnell Furlong had a shot saved by Alex McCarthy, while David Brooks had a penalty appeal turned down.
Maintaining Control
Southampton continued to dominate, and Adam Armstrong doubled their lead with a shot through Furlong's legs and past Alex Palmer. Armstrong added his second goal from the penalty spot in the 86th minute after Tom Fellows fouled Ryan Manning in the box.
Late Consolation
Cedric Kipre scored a late header for West Brom, but it was merely a consolation as Southampton held on for a 3-1 win. The victory sets up an exciting final against Leeds United at Wembley on May 26.
