Sharjah Children's Reading Festival Ignites Football Excitement Ahead Of Euro 2024

The fervour for UEFA Euro 2024, set to be hosted in Germany from June 14 to July 14, has already gripped football enthusiasts, particularly those attending the ongoing Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF). This 12-day event, presented by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) at the Sharjah Expo Centre, has become a prelude to the anticipated football gala, offering fans a chance to engage with the sport beyond the pitch.

Fans of all ages are flocking to the festival, eager for glimpse of football-themed attractions, including meetingots resembling their football idols like Cristiano Ronaldo, affectionately known as CR7. Seven-year-old Emirati, Sultan Abdallah, expressed his excitement, "I am so excited about the Euros already and nothing can be better than to see CR7 walk the corridors of my favourite festival." With Ronaldo's Portugal considered a strong contender in the upcoming Euro 2024, anticipation is building among the fans.

Sharjah Festival Spurs Euro 2024 Buzz

The festival is not just about one star; it embraces the global nature of football fandom. Attendees like 13-year-old Palestinian Nour Mourad are showing support for other football stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford, highlighting the diverse appeal of the sport. This broad interest is reflected in the festival's bustling book sales, particularly those focused on football stars, underscoring the growing football culture in the region.

Sales executive Pushpak Goswami noted, "We have seen an increase in demand for books on the lives and careers of footballers compared to previous years." This trend is attributed to the influence of international players in the Middle East and the heightened excitement for Euro 2024. The SCRF has notably done well in selling the Football Superstars series, resonating with fans of players from Lionel Messi to Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

The love for football extends to younger fans like nine-year-old Zaydan Nusrat, who expressed his support for Norway due to his admiration for Erling Haaland. Such enthusiasm from the festival-goers underlines the unifying power of football, bringing together fans from various backgrounds and ages.

The 15th iteration of the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, themed 'Once Upon a Hero’, boasts over 1,500 cultural, creative, and edutainment activities. It has drawn 265 esteemed guests from 25 countries, alongside the participation of 186 publishers from 20 nations. This blend of literary and football culture at SCRF not only celebrates the sport but also enriches the attendees' experience, making it a unique prelude to Euro 2024.

As football fever takes over the SCRF, fans are treated to a unique experience that blends their love for reading with their passion for the game. With the festival serving as a hub for football lovers, it sets the stage for an exciting countdown to Euro 2024, uniting fans in their shared anticipation for the event.
