Everton's Sean Dyche Recommended For England Manager Role By Ashley Young
Everton head coach Sean Dyche should be considered for the England manager role, according to Toffees defender Ashley Young. Gareth Southgate announced his departure as the Three Lions' head coach after nearly eight years. Southgate led England to two European Championship finals and the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
Young, who was part of the England squad that reached the World Cup semi-finals in 2018, believes Dyche is a strong candidate for the national team job. "I don't think even when Gareth Southgate got the job, he [Dyche] was considered to be England manager," Young told BBC Sport.

Southgate's tenure saw England achieve significant milestones, including third place in the 2019 Nations League. Young praised Southgate on X, saying, "Thanks Gaffer, what a journey it's been! You brought me back into the squad after four years and when we talk about togetherness you brought that to the National Team in abundance."
The former Burnley coach has won 90 of his 314 Premier League games. He secured Everton's top-flight survival on the final day of the 2022-23 season despite facing a points deduction. "When he came in [at Everton], it looked like the club was going to get relegated, and he saved them on the final day of the season," Young said.
Young insists Dyche's credentials should not be underestimated. "There will be names thrown in the hat left, right and centre, and for the job the manager has done, of course his name should be in the hat," he added.
England Manager Role
"Who can say the gaffer shouldn't be considered because you don't know until someone is given that role?" Young questioned. He pointed out that previous managers like Steve McClaren, Fabio Capello, and Roy Hodgson had longer careers but didn't achieve expected success with England.
"Last season, if things were different, the position we could have finished in could have been totally different," Young noted. He emphasized that Dyche deserves more recognition for his contributions to Everton.
Dyche's ability to turn around struggling teams makes him a viable candidate for England's head coach position. His experience and achievements at club level could translate well to managing a national team.
The search for Southgate's successor is ongoing, with many names being considered. However, Young firmly believes Dyche should be among those seriously evaluated for this prestigious role.
As England looks forward to its next chapter under new leadership, Dyche's potential appointment could bring fresh perspectives and strategies to the team.
