Ronaldinho Clarifies Comments, Vows Never To Abandon Brazil At Copa America
Ronaldinho has clarified his stance on supporting Brazil's national football team, retracting his earlier statement that he would not back the Selecao at the upcoming Copa America. Brazil is preparing for their quest for a 10th South American title, with Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica as their opponents in Group D.
Just 10 days before Brazil's opening game against Costa Rica in Los Angeles, Ronaldinho had expressed his discontent with the current squad. The 2002 World Cup winner criticised the team for lacking passion and determination, stating: "I've never seen a situation as bad as this." These comments sparked concern among fans and analysts alike.

However, Ronaldinho has now suggested that his previous remarks were a reflection of the sentiments of many fans rather than his own views. In a video posted on his Instagram account, he clarified: "I would never abandon Brazilian football, ever. I'd never say those things you see."
He further explained that the negative comments were actual statements from Brazilian fans he had seen online. "Imagine listening to these messages before you play? Motivation goes down... fan support makes a huge difference to the players. I know what I'm talking about," Ronaldinho added.
Ronaldinho emphasised the importance of fan support for the team's morale and performance. "What our boys need is support at this time. The more confidence we show, the more confidence they will have on the field," he stated.
Brazil's national team is under the guidance of Dorival Junior as they aim to secure another Copa America title. The tournament will be a significant test for the squad, especially given Ronaldinho's earlier criticisms and the high expectations from fans.
The Selecao's journey in Copa America will begin with their match against Costa Rica in Los Angeles. The team will need to demonstrate unity and resilience to overcome their group-stage challenges and advance further in the competition.
Ronaldinho's recent statements highlight the crucial role of fan support in sports, particularly during major tournaments like Copa America. As Brazil prepares for their campaign, both players and supporters will be looking to rally together for success.
