PSG Defeats Nice 2-1: Zague's Birthday Goal Makes History

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured a 2-1 victory against Nice in Ligue 1 on Wednesday, effectively ending the hosts' hopes of a top-four finish. Bradley Barcola initiated the scoring for PSG in the 18th minute, followed by an additional goal from 18-year-old Yoram Zague just five minutes later.

Nice managed to reduce the deficit before halftime when Jeremie Boga set up Mohamed-Ali Cho, who capitalised on PSG's defensive lapse. However, Nice's chances of an equaliser were diminished when Melvin Bard received a red card in the 75th minute for a severe foul on Barcola. Barcola's performance was notable as he filled in for Kylian Mbappe, who was rested by coach Luis Enrique.

PSG Wins, Zague Scores Historic Goal

PSG, having already clinched the Ligue 1 title, are now focusing on the Coupe de France final against Lyon scheduled for May 25. The team currently holds 73 points, while Nice remains in fifth place with 54 points. With only one match left in the season, Nice trails fourth-placed Brest by four points, making Champions League qualification unattainable.

Yoram Zague marked a significant milestone by scoring his first goal for PSG on his 18th birthday. This achievement makes him the youngest player to score on his birthday in Ligue 1 over the past 75 years.

This victory underscores PSG's dominance in Ligue 1 this season and sets the stage for their upcoming Coupe de France final against Lyon. Meanwhile, Nice will need to regroup and focus on their strategies for the next season.
