Postecoglou Reacts To Spurs' Defeat To Man City, Calls Foundations Fragile
Ange Postecoglou expressed concerns about the stability at Tottenham Hotspur following their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, which dashed their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League. Erling Haaland scored twice in the second half, allowing City to overtake Arsenal and reclaim the Premier League top spot as the season nears its end.
Postecoglou was taken aback by some Tottenham fans who suggested they would prefer a loss to Pep Guardiola's team if it hindered Arsenal's title chances. The atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was notably subdued, with some home supporters celebrating City's first goal and chanting "are you watching Arsenal?"

The head coach, who was also seen arguing with a Spurs fan, was disappointed as his team's top-four aspirations were extinguished, with Aston Villa securing a Champions League spot instead. "The foundations are really fragile," he said. "The last 48 hours have shown me that. It's inside the club, outside the club, everywhere. It's been an interesting exercise."
Postecoglou added, "It's just my observations. I can't dictate what people do. They're allowed to express themselves any way they want. But when we've got late winners in games, it's because the crowd has helped us. Maybe I'm out of step, but I just don't care; I just want to win. I want to be successful at this football club; that's why I was brought in."
He continued, "So how other people want to feel and what their priorities are, are of zero interest to me. I know what's important to build a winning team - that's what I need to concentrate on."
Tottenham's defeat and subsequent reactions from fans highlight ongoing challenges within the club as they strive for success under Postecoglou's leadership.
