Pochettino Commends Chelsea Squad's Effort Following Stamford Bridge Exit

Mauricio Pochettino has publicly commended Chelsea's players in his first statement since leaving Stamford Bridge. The Argentine coach departed the club last month after just one season, despite a strong finish to the Premier League campaign that secured a sixth-place finish and a return to European competition.

Pochettino's youthful squad had a slow start to the season but managed to reach the EFL Cup final and the FA Cup semi-finals. They also won each of their last five league games. However, the lack of a trophy led to Pochettino parting ways with the club by mutual agreement. Former Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca was named as his successor earlier this week.

Pochettino Praises Chelsea Players

In his first social media post since leaving the five-time Premier League champions, Pochettino paid tribute to the squad. "We know there have been ups and downs, but we always believed in this team and that we would arrive at a consistent level," he wrote on Instagram. "They deserve great credit and I hope you felt that too in how they performed on the pitch."

Pochettino expressed optimism about the future, stating, "I believe the experiences of this season and big improvement we saw, I hope will only make the players stronger for the future."

Upcoming Event

Pochettino will return to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to lead the World XI against England in the annual Soccer Aid charity match.
