Pedri Advocates For Barcelona To Sign Spain Teammate Nico Williams

Pedri is eager for his Spain team-mate Nico Williams to join him at Barcelona after their Euro 2024 campaign concludes. The young duo has been crucial in Spain's flawless start in the tournament, winning all four matches to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

Williams scored a remarkable solo goal in Spain's 4-1 victory over Georgia on Sunday. He became the first player since 1980 to score, assist, and complete 100% of his passes (46/46) in a Euro game he started. This performance has heightened interest in his future.

Pedri Backs Nico Williams Barcelona Move

Barcelona has shown interest in signing Williams from Athletic Bilbao, with Liverpool also reportedly keen. Fellow Spain winger Lamine Yamal has already supported the idea of Williams moving to Barcelona. Pedri echoed this sentiment, telling Mundo Deportivo that Williams would be a significant addition to the team.

"We don't talk about it much. It's a decision that he and Barca have to make," Pedri said. "Yes, it's clear that he would be a spectacular signing. We're already seeing what he's doing at the Euros. Hopefully, he can be with us, but we don't know yet because he has a contract with Athletic."

Chelsea is also reportedly interested in Williams, who still has three years left on his contract with Bilbao. Despite the speculation, Williams has expressed contentment with his current club.

"I am very happy in Bilbao and that is all I have to say," Williams stated last month. "Yes, I am quite clear, in the end, as I have told you, Athletic is my home."

Germany awaits Luis de la Fuente's side on Friday in the quarter-finals. Regardless of the outcome, Pedri hopes to see Williams playing alongside him at Barcelona next season.

Williams plays club football alongside his brother Inaki at Athletic Bilbao and has previously indicated that his future lies with his current club rather than elsewhere.

The anticipation surrounding Williams' potential move continues to grow as fans and clubs alike await his decision post-Euro 2024.
