Amadou Onana Commits To Leading Aston Villa To Glory Post Everton Switch

Amadou Onana is set to elevate Aston Villa's status following his transfer from Everton on Monday. Onana, who is Unai Emery's eighth signing this transfer window, has committed to a five-year contract in a deal valued at £50 million. The 22-year-old will replace Douglas Luiz, who moved to Juventus for £42.35 million last month.

Onana played in all four of Belgium's Euro 2024 matches in Germany and made 72 appearances for Everton during his two-year tenure at Goodison Park. Villa are participating in the Champions League for the first time this season after finishing fourth in the Premier League. "It was a bit of everything. It is a healthy atmosphere here for me to grow as a player, but also as a man," Onana told Aston Villa's official website. "You guys played some very attractive football last season, loads of goals, and we will be playing in the Champions League next season."

Onana has previously featured in the Champions League, making eight appearances with Lille. Having helped Everton avoid relegation over the past two years, he looks forward to competing among Europe's elite once again.
