David Wagner Expresses Frustration After Norwich City's Draw With Blackburn Rovers

David Wagner expressed his frustration as Norwich City was held to a 1-1 draw by Blackburn Rovers, missing a crucial opportunity to close in on the Championship play-off places. Despite taking an early lead through Marcelino Nunez's first goal of the season in the 22nd minute, Norwich couldn't secure a win, with Blackburn's Dominic Hyams leveling the score in the 56th minute. This result leaves Norwich just three points shy of the sixth position, currently held by Hull City.

Wagner praised his team's offensive play and defensive effort but lamented the missed chances and the manner in which they conceded the equalizer. "Offensively we played some good football...Defensively, we put a shift in, we worked hard," Wagner stated, emphasizing the team's overall performance despite the draw. He remained optimistic about Norwich's prospects, highlighting the importance of focusing on performances with many games still ahead.

Wagner Frustrated by Norwich's Draw

On the other side, Blackburn Rovers showed resilience by coming from behind to secure a point. This draw marks a slight improvement for Blackburn, who have only lost once in their last five matches under new head coach John Eustace. Eustace commended his team's character and commitment, noting their ability to fight back and level the score for the first time this season at home.

Both teams had their share of opportunities throughout the match. Sam Gallagher of Blackburn was notably denied three times in the first half before Hyams found the net. Eustace praised his team's performance against one of the league's top teams and highlighted their growing cohesion as a group.

The draw leaves Blackburn four points clear of relegation, with Eustace focusing on the positive steps forward demonstrated by his team. "We're making small steps forward and I was pleased with the point in the end," he remarked, acknowledging his team's effort to come from behind and secure a draw.

As both Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers look ahead, they remain focused on building upon their recent performances to achieve their respective goals in the Championship. With many games left in the season, both teams are optimistic about their chances of climbing higher in the standings.
