Morocco Beats Argentina In Olympic Opener After VAR Call And Delay
Morocco triumphed 2-1 over Argentina in their Olympic opener, with Cristian Medina's potential equaliser disallowed due to crowd trouble causing a two-hour delay. Argentina seemed to have secured a 2-2 draw after trailing 2-0 in Saint-Etienne. Soufiane Rahimi scored twice for Morocco before Giuliano Simeone pulled one back for Argentina.
Medina appeared to have equalised when he headed home following a goalmouth scramble, 16 minutes into second-half stoppage time. However, crowd trouble erupted as spectators threw cups, bottles, and pyrotechnics at the Argentine players. The referee took the teams off the pitch amid confusion over whether the final whistle had sounded.

It was later announced that Argentina's potential equaliser had been ruled out after a VAR review showed Bruno Amione was offside in the build-up. Another three minutes of stoppage time were played around two hours after the players had been taken off.
Morocco held on to win 2-1, securing three points and placing them at the top of Group B. Javier Mascherano's side, who were among the pre-tournament favourites, remain on zero points.
