AC Milan Breaks Winless Streak With Decisive Win Over Cagliari

Milan's head coach, Stefano Pioli, has recently faced a wave of scrutiny but found reason to celebrate as his team ended their four-game winless streak in Serie A with a resounding victory on Saturday. The Rossoneri showcased their prowess by defeating Cagliari 5-1 at San Siro, a win that not only highlighted their offensive capabilities but also marked their first league victory since April 6 against Lecce. This triumph also concluded a six-game drought across all competitions.

Christian Pulisic emerged as a key player in the match, scoring twice, with Rafael Leao, Tijjani Reijnders, and Ismael Bennacer also finding the back of the net. Despite the disappointment of watching their fierce rivals Inter clinch the title, Milan secured second place in the Serie A table, moving seven points clear of Bologna with just two games left in the season.

Milan Wins, Ends Drought

Pioli expressed his relief and satisfaction at seeing his team return to form. "It was very important to return to winning ways; we were not used to being so long without victories," Pioli told Sky Sport. He acknowledged the challenges faced throughout the season, noting that no team could maintain the level demonstrated by Inter and that his squad struggled with consistency at crucial moments.

On the other side, Cagliari's coach Claudio Ranieri reflected on the difficulties faced by his team, especially after conceding five goals. "It hurts to have conceded five goals; in the first half we did well defensively, but we were timid," Ranieri stated. With Cagliari sitting in 15th place and only three points above the relegation zone, Ranieri emphasized the importance of focusing on the remaining matches for survival.

Nahitan Nandez managed to score a consolation goal for Cagliari in the 63rd minute, but it was not enough to spark a comeback. The loss leaves Cagliari in a precarious position as they fight to avoid relegation, with their fate hanging in the balance over the last two matches of the season.

Milan's emphatic win serves as a testament to their resilience and determination to overcome a challenging period. As they look forward to their remaining fixtures, both Milan and Cagliari have critical battles ahead in their respective quests for success and survival in Italy's top-flight football.
