Kylian Mbappe set aside the speculation surrounding his transfer to Real Madrid, leading France to a 3-0 friendly win over Luxembourg on Wednesday. Didier Deschamps praised Mbappe's leadership, as the star striker marked his move to the Spanish capital with a goal and two assists at Stade Saint-Symphorien in Metz.

Mbappe showcased his skills down the left flank, creating space and setting up Randal Kolo Muani's first-half opener. He continued his impressive performance by assisting Jonathan Clauss' goal after the break. The France forward capped off his night with a late goal, assisted by former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Bradley Barcola.

With just 12 days before France's Euro 2024 opener against Austria, head coach Deschamps expressed satisfaction with Mbappe's return to international duty. Speaking to French channel TF1, Deschamps said, "He's a fantastic leader. His head and body weren't used to playing so little. He lacked a bit of juice. But he got it in his head that he was going to do everything to make up for his PSG frustration."

Upcoming Challenges

France will face Canada in their final warm-up friendly on Sunday before heading to the Euros. Their group includes challenging opponents such as the Netherlands and Poland. Deschamps noted that while the victory over Luxembourg was promising, there is still room for improvement. "It's a good rehearsal for the work we've done," he added. "We're not going to get excited but there are some interesting things. I'm going to correct some positioning. But in the offensive animation, we had a lot of variety."

Olivier Giroud also made history during the match, becoming France's oldest player at 37 years and 249 days when he came on as a second-half substitute.
