Man Utd Awaits Injury News On Yoro, Hojlund After Arsenal Clash

Erik ten Hag mentioned that Manchester United will need to wait another 24 hours to determine the severity of injuries sustained by Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund. Both players were injured during the first half of United's 2-1 loss to Arsenal in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Hojlund scored the opening goal in the 10th minute at SoFi Stadium, but Arsenal secured victory with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Despite only participating in half of United's training sessions, Yoro, a £52.2 million signing from Lille, started the match. Ten Hag explained that his staff were cautious with the 18-year-old.

Yoro, Hojlund Injury Updates Awaited

Ten Hag expressed satisfaction with United's overall performance. Although his team only managed 0.56 expected goals, they had 10 shots compared to Arsenal's six. The Dutchman also felt that Jesus' equaliser should have been ruled offside.

"I think it was a really competitive match, really good opposition for us, and I'm very happy that we managed to win the game," said Ten Hag. "We were the better team in the first half; we scored a very good goal—a good move, a good finish."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Martinelli's impact as the matchwinner. "One training session and he comes in and plays at that level," Arteta said about the Brazilian. "That's the mentality of the team and individuals."

Arteta added, "Gabriel looks really sharp. He has changed a lot of things over the summer. You can see it in his eyes. There's some spark there. Now he has a point to prove and that is good."

Penalty Shootout Victory

United won a pre-arranged penalty shootout 4-3 at the end of the match, with Andre Onana making two saves and Jadon Sancho scoring the decisive spot-kick. Ten Hag emphasised the importance of having a goalkeeper proficient in penalty shootouts.

"It's important—we know all the cup competitions we are in, so penalties can be important," Ten Hag stated. "Two good saves from Andre. It's important to have a goalkeeper that is good at penalty shootouts, and he proved that again."

Injury Concerns

Ten Hag highlighted their cautious approach with Yoro due to his limited participation in training sessions. "We have to wait; in 24 hours we will hopefully know more," Ten Hag told MUTV. "He did only 50% of the sessions, so it's disappointing he had to come off."

The manager remained optimistic about Yoro's condition despite his early exit from the game: "But let's be positive and see what comes out." This cautious optimism reflects United’s approach towards player health and recovery.

The match showcased both teams' strengths and areas for improvement as they prepare for upcoming competitions. Fans eagerly await updates on Yoro and Hojlund’s injuries while reflecting on an intense game filled with notable performances.
