Manchester United In Talks For New Contract With Jonny Evans
Manchester United are in the process of negotiating a new contract with Jonny Evans, aiming to extend his tenure with the club. The Red Devils have recently released their retained list to the Premier League. Evans, who secured three Premier League titles during his initial 11-year stint at United from 2004 to 2015, rejoined the team at the beginning of the 2023-24 season on a one-year deal.
The Northern Ireland defender initially trained with Manchester United during pre-season before signing a short-term contract in September. Since then, he has made 30 appearances across all competitions. The club has confirmed that they are in discussions with the 36-year-old regarding new terms to keep him at Old Trafford for the 2024-25 campaign.
In addition to Evans, Manchester United are also negotiating a new deal with goalkeeper Tom Heaton. The club has offered a contract extension to young striker Omari Forson as well. Forson, who is 19 years old, made his Premier League debut in February's 4-3 win over Wolves and went on to play six more times. However, reports suggest that Forson is seeking a move away from the club.
Meanwhile, Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane will leave Manchester United when their contracts expire on June 30. Martial has made 317 appearances for the club, while Varane has featured in 95 matches. Additionally, academy graduate Brandon Williams will also depart from the team.
