Garnacho And Mainoo: First Teenagers To Score In FA Cup Final Since Ronaldo
Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have made history by becoming the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004. During the first half of Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City, 19-year-old Garnacho capitalised on a mix-up between Stefan Ortega and Josko Gvardiol to net the opening goal.
This achievement makes Garnacho the third teenager to score for United in an FA Cup final, following Ronaldo's goal against Millwall in 2004 and Norman Whiteside's in 1983. Just nine minutes later, a well-executed United move culminated with Bruno Fernandes laying Garnacho's pass into Mainoo, who finished coolly to double United's lead.

Mainoo, also 19, became the youngest English goalscorer in an FA Cup final since John Sissons for West Ham in 1964. Additionally, he is the first English teenager to score in an FA Cup final since Steve MacKenzie for Manchester City against Tottenham in 1981. This match marks the first men's FA Cup final to feature goals from two different teenagers.
At half-time, Manchester United held a 2-0 lead against the Premier League champions, thanks to the contributions of their young talents. The historic nature of these goals underscores the significant impact of youth players on major stages.
